BATTLECROSS ANNOUNCES VOCALIST
Popular Thrash Metal Band Names Kyle ‘Gumby’ Gunther as New Front Man

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

(July 26, 2010- Detroit, MI)-Up-and-coming Detroit-area thrash metallers BATTLECROSS have officially announced Kyle ‘Gumby’ Gunther as their new lead singer, replacing Marshall Woods who left the band earlier this year.

The announcement couldn’t come at a better time for BATTLECROSS, who are preparing to release their full-length CD ‘Push Pull Destroy’ on August 17th to an eager fan base and interested record labels who have been monitoring and advising the band’s search for a new vocalist.

Gunther comes to BATTLECROSS from Clio, MI-based band and former management rostermates I Decay, who have shared the stage with BATTLECROSS at numerous live shows and music festivals over the last two years such as Dirt Fest, Indianapolis Metal Fest, the Summer Slaughter Tour and more.

After performing of successful trial shows in the Detroit-area, the response to Gunther’s performances were overwhelming. “What started out as a ‘fill-in’ position was just too good not to continue” guitarist Hiran Deraniyagala said in a statement on the band’s website, “Gumby brings to the table a tremendous vocal ability, creativity, charisma and a die hard work ethic.”

Further excitement was generated when BATTLECROSS responded to a nationally known record label’s request for the band’s music with Gunther‘s vocals, leading Josh Schroeder of Random Awesome Studios and Gunther to quickly produced three BATTLECROSS tracks. The result exceeded expectations, and making Gunther as lead singer became a priority and crucial to the future of the band.

“Gumby’s distinct death metal-style guttural vocals and screams will take us toward a more aggressive and extreme style that is better suited to lead our technical musical style of thrash metal that we’re known for” said Guitarist Tony Asta, who cites the enigmatic Gunther as a “natural choice” for BATTLECROSS.

Meanwhile, Gunther is clearly enthusiastic about becoming the vocalist for the band, stating, “I’m stoked to be singing for the Cross,” adding, “for the last two years, I have been wanting the chance to put my vocals to their music so I can brutalize their fans even more!”

Brutal indeed.

‘Gumby’ will lead the band for their coming dates, including a performance with DevilDriver at Harpo’s in Detroit in August and sharing the stage with former singer Marshall Wood at the BATTLECROSS CD Release show on August 20th at the Token Lounge in Westland, MI. Gumby will also be ready to jump on the marketing blitz planned in support of the release and working on a new BATTLECROSS record featuring him on vocals.
